These guys are in South Elgin, IL. Not quite Elk Grove but pretty close (lol). Also 1099. I searched but did not find anything here on the forums. If you look them up on Google Maps they have good reviews (I see some Russian and translated from English, and I have no doubt that some number of those reviews are from their own office staff, etc. but maybe at least a couple are actually from drivers).

Now, I have been reading these forums long enough to know all about Chicagoland 1099 companies. But I have some mitigating circumstances, hear me out.

I have some things going against me. I have a “preventable” crash, not quite 2 years old yet. I live in Florida, and I worked local the last year or so (only truck driving job I could get at the time). My prospects improved a little, but not much. Also, I keep reading on here the economy is bad and trucking is bad. So at this point I am even considering applying to U.S. Xpress for Chrissakes (apparently they have a terminal somewhere in north central Florida, as I show as being within their hiring area).

But I would much rather do flatbed, for lots of reasons.

Now, on to the good. They are offering good pay and generous home time. The latter is important to me, I have a family and a house to maintain and coming out of Florida everyone wants me out for 4 weeks (at least) which is fine, but then most companies want you to only have a few days or worse just do a 34 and get right back out there. These guys say they will give me 7 to 10 days home which almost no-one seems to be offering.

I also had my own business for 20 years before I got my CDL. So I can keep my own books and pay my taxes and stay out of hot water with the 1099 thing. There might even be some tax advantages I could claim. I know it’s not ideal, but it might not be such a bad option for me, at least at this time.

Please tell me I’m crazy (or maybe not).
